Yep, this weekend is Midsummer, an awesomely fun and strange holiday here in Sweden.
Midsommar stång (May pole), singing, dancing and love making. It is an old fertility festival that just has remained even through the income of Christianity.
The may pole symbolises the male reproduction organ and the earth the female reproduction organ, and as the two make love the world blooms. Oh well... more on wikipedia.
Here the teens usually drink their heads off, children pick nine flowers from nine different meadows, and then put it under their pillows to dream of their prince to be. All people build May Poles, dressing it with green leaves and flowers.
It's fun.
Then we eat strawberries, fresh potatoes, fermented herring, drink snaps and sing horrible snapsvisor (snaps songs). Great fun.
Anyway, I bid you all a Happy Midsummer, I will have fun with my friends and hope it doesn't rain.

Sounds like an interesting time, the only unique celebration we have is Scratch Ankle (or towns original name) in which we have a large fair celebrating our cities history and founding.
